Brandon Drain

Brandon DrainHow did you first become connected with FAME?

My first time even hearing of the FAME program came during the latter parts of my high school tenure. It was brought to my attention by my former teacher, and he insisted I at least consider joining the program. My second time ever being on campus was when I came to pick up my welcome kit, I’ll never forget that.

What services do you recall utilizing through FAME?

I remember connecting with a coach on a weekly basis to ensure I was on track with my academics. This, to me, was vital, and it’s why I carried on with the weekly/bi-weekly meetings up until my junior year. The other great resource I utilized was the vast array of physical resources the program offered. Things like pens, pencils, notebooks and hygienics were something I took advantage of every chance I had. It really helped me supplement my financial issues.

How was FAME beneficial?

The program offered something stable in my life—something consistent and valuable. In a way, the people I connected with became like family. It extended far beyond just being an academic/mentoring program—it became something so intrinsic to my social and collegiate life.

When did you graduate from MSU?

I graduated in May of 2021.

What has life after graduation looked like? What are you up to now?

Two months after graduating, I landed a full-time job at MSU in the marketing/communications department. Along with that, I’ve been growing my side business as a multi-media marketer, videographer and photographer.
